Kellie writes…

I am constantly drawn to new ideas and have quite a collection of projects. Any given day I could have a new one and take it and run with it and then repeat with a new one the next day.

What that doesn’t really get me, is completion on any one thing. After I started capturing my ideas and filling folders with them, and adding to them as similar ideas sprouted, I felt more in control of my time.

Likewise, giving myself deadlines has been helpful to get things to the next step. And sharing that goal with someone or writing it out with achievable steps to get me there. While customers always come first, the only one who is disapointed when a sparkling new idea doesn’t go anywhere is me – and  the change of midset to make myself responsible to deliverables, and make myself reasonable deadlines that work with everything else we have going on is key.

We would love to hear how you combat the distraction of too many ideas – how do you keep track, and how do you see them through?

Juliette writes…

There are days when I have too many ideas in my head. Things I want to try, projects I want to pursue, new creative endeavors I am interested in. Sometimes it feels like I don’t even know how to handle that many ideas at once.

In today’s episode Kellie and I explore what we can do when facing too many ideas.  We dive into scheduling, sorting, finding inspiration in books we read, etc. I particularly enjoyed learning how Kellie manages hers by creating a project box.

What I learned is that I need quiet times too. Times to let it sort out itself in my head. Letting it brew and, in a way, resolve its natural course. It is a balance between doing and reflecting.

What are your way to handle too many ideas?
